What other fun, water activities are there to do at Kern River besides whitewater rafting? Great question. Here is our list of fun things to do near the Kern River! Rent kayaks from French Gulch Marina. Schedule a climbing lesson with Sierra South Mountain Sports, or plan day trips around Kernville.
Schedule in down town and let your group ride bikes in camp or play shuffleboard, giant jenga, volleyball, connect 4, cornhole or frisbee golf on property @ Kern River's Edge.

With scouting comes the wholesome experience of cooking in the outdoors and the attendant menu planning, shopping, prepping and cooking. And with busy, hectic lives, sometimes you earn a cheat night! So if menu planning and a food buy are not an option, or if you just need a cheat night -- Kernville has quite a few restaurant options.
That's Italian offers delicious spaghetti and lasagna, plus they cater.
Pizza Barn delivers pizzas, calzones, bread sticks or choose to dine-in.
Grab a burrito or taco at El Rio Mexican Grill.
Kern River Brewing Company make their own root beer and offer a diverse menu of tasty burgers.
Something Sweeter and Big Blue Bear provide a quick stop for yummy treats like fro-yo, ice cream, blended drinks, cupcakes and pastries.
Kern River's Edge carries S'mores fixings in our Camp Store in case you forget to pack them, or need to restock!
Memories
Planning ahead for things like souvenirs or gratuities helps to alleviate any surprises, especially if your Scouts are fundraising or responsible for paying their own way. Our Camp Store offers Kern River mementos starting @ $5 on up. Group orders are available for items like our Kern River's Edge patch -- touch base with us a few days in advance.

Recreating responsibly includes packing trash bags to leave our wild spaces cleaner than you found them. There is a glass ban in the Sequoia National Forest, so remember to use plastic storage containers, Ziploc bags, or Bota bags for camping gear and kitchen supplies instead.
